Experience what it's like to train like a professional player, for 2 full days.

Over the course of 10 hours of on-court time, there will be a variety of training & matchplay sessions designed to challenge and improve every aspect of your doubles game.

We, Greg and Jenny Mairs, will be leading the weekend with the help of additional high-level coaches. We hope to give you a lot of technical, tactical and mental 'insight' to help you improve!
Connect With Other Passionate Players
One of the biggest problems players face is not having people to train with. At the Badminton Insight Training Weekend you will connect and train with lots of players who are a similar standard to you.

1️⃣ Date & Location

Saturday 9th August 2025: 9:30-12pm and 2-4:30pm
Sunday 10th August 2025: 9:30-12pm and 2-4:30pm
2️⃣ Advanced Standard
To make the Training Weekend as beneficial as possible for all players, we require you to be of a very high intermediate or advanced standard.
In England for example, this would mean you play in Badminton England tournaments such as Coppers, Bronzes, Silvers or Golds, or you play at a very high club level.
In Germany for example, this would mean you are playing in the ‘Bezirksliga’ or above.
And as a third example – in Denmark, it would mean you are playing in level ‘B’ or above.
These are strict standards to ensure everyone is of a similar level, so please make sure you book the right one for your level 😊

The Training Weekend is for adults over the age of 18.

The Training Weekend is £285 per person. The price for this weekend includes:

Intermediate Standard
To make the Training Weekend as beneficial as possible for all players, this Training Weekend is aimed at intermediate players and above (e.g. playing regularly at a good club level).
Unfortunately we can’t accommodate for beginners on this Training Weekend – you must have a good understanding of basic technique and tactics.
These are strict standards to ensure everyone is of a similar level, so please make sure you book the right one for your level 😊

Please read the above ‘Important Information’ section carefully where we outline the standard required for the Training Weekend.

There are changing rooms and showers available on-site at the Armitage Sports Centre.
Yes! We want to maximise your time on the court so there won’t be any off-court ‘physical’ work during the 2 days.
Once you have booked your space, you will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours. You will then receive an email 4 weeks before the Training Weekend with a full itinerary! If you don’t receive these, please email us ([email protected]).
If you’re travelling by car, there is parking on-site (free for 3 hours, £3.50 for the entire day).
If you’re travelling by train, the nearest main train station is Manchester Piccadilly Station and it will then be a 15 minute tram, or 15 minute taxi.
The nearest airport is Manchester Airport – a 15 minute taxi to the venue, or around 40 minutes by public transport.
There are several ‘Guest Houses’ and the Travelodge Upper Brook Street, all of which are a 12 minute tram from the Armitage Centre.
Alternatively, if you are travelling by car – there are many options in Manchester City Centre which is just a 10 minute drive away from the venue.
Please let us know as early as possible if you are no longer able to attend the Training Weekend. You will receive a 50% refund, as long as we can find a replacement.
