Our 2025 Review

Hello and welcome to Our 2025 Review – where we reflect on the last 12 months and set some goals for the upcoming year!

We also have included some prompts at the end to help you reflect on your year and set goals for 2026 too 😄

Our 2025 Highlights

  • January – We visited India for the first time, playing in the India Open. We love experiencing new places and cultures, and India had been on our bucket list for a while. We also had the BEST naan breads we’ve ever eaten in our life haha!
  • February – We won the English National Championships for the 3rd year in a row 🏆
  • March – A huge month! We announced that we were stopping competing in international tournaments, and that the All England would be our final tournament. We then had the best week of our careers at the All England, reaching the quarter-finals! It was the perfect way to finish playing international badminton.
  • April – We kick-started our new journey with Badminton Insight by going to Canada to film some videos with Linus Sebastian (from the YouTube channel Linus Tech Tips). We had an amazing week, and learnt a lot from Linus!
  • May – A bit of a random one, but we went skiing on our final day in Canada! It’s something we never did whilst competing on the World Tour due to the risk of injury, but as we no longer had any tournaments to prepare for, we made a last-minute decision to give it a try – and we loved it!
  • June – We signed a 4-year partnership extension with VICTOR! VICTOR have supported us long before we started Badminton Insight, and not only do they produce great products but they are also great people, so we were very excited to continue our partnership with them.
  • July –  Speaking of VICTOR, July was the first month we tested the new NCS Pro synthetic shuttlecock. It is a huge innovation in the world of badminton, and it felt like a momentous occasion trying something that we believe will be the future of the sport.
  • August – We went to the World Championships, our first tournament as ‘non-players’. It was a lot of fun getting to meet so many subscribers in Paris, but it did feel a bit weird not having a match to play!
  • September – After running two Badminton Insight Training Weekends in 2024, we ran two more this year – and again these are definitely in our top highlights of the year! It was amazing seeing the passion and energy everyone brought, whilst pushing themselves to improve their game.

We also went on our honeymoon (2 years after getting married!) where we had a very nice week relaxing in Greece 🇬🇷

  • October – We went to the Denmark Open and had a lot of fun filming a vlog, meeting a lot of lovely subscribers, and doing our first ever European ‘Beat Us, Win €100’ challenge!
  • November – We filmed a “40 vs 2 Challenge” video at the Hylo Open. As far as we’re aware, this is the first time that fans have ever been allowed to play on the main court of a top professional tournament. It was an amazing event, and a video we’ll definitely never forget!
  • December – We spent a lovely, relaxed few days over Christmas with our family and friends 😊

Goals For 2026

As well as reflecting on the previous year, we also like to set goals for the new year! So here are some of our goals for 2026:

  • Jenny –
    • Read 6 books (last year my goal was 10, but I failed that so I need a more achievable goal this year!)
    • Be able to have a basic conversation in Chinese Mandarin by the end of the year
  • Greg –
    • Go to a public speaking class
    • Win every match in the German Bundesliga
    • Stick to a night-time routine of stretching and reading
  • Joint Goals –
    • Launch the Footwork Accelerator – and make it the best possible resource for anyone wanting to master their footwork! (If you want to be notified when it launches, sign up here!)
    • Release 52 good YouTube videos, with the aim of inspiring or educating players of all levels!

Similar to previous years, we of course have many other smaller goals (and a very long to-do list!) but these are the main ones we want to focus on and develop habits around.

Your Highlights & Planning

Hopefully we’ve inspired you to do some 2025 reflections, and planning for 2026 too! Below are some prompts to help you do this!

Reflecting On 2025

If you haven’t already, think of some of your top highlights of each month – if you’re not sure then try looking through some photos on your phone, this always helps us! And if you don’t have many photos, take more!

Planning For 2026

  • One word to describe how I want 2026 to be
  • 3 main goals for the next year
  • 3 habits I want to adopt
  • 3 emotions I want to feel more of
  • 3 ways things I can do that are out of my comfort zone

Happy New Year!

We hope this 2025 Review helps you reflect and set goals for your upcoming year – whether that’s in relation to your badminton, work, or life in general.

We wish you an amazing 2026 and we hope you ‘smash’ any goals you set!
